Recovery Solution Map

This document is comprised of sections describing specific recovery topics

and procedures. Table 2-1 shows how each failure type potentially affects the

various DPM components, and which section in this document is applicable

to the specific failure type.

As you explore different failure/recovery scenarios, keep the following

guidelines in mind:

• Re-installation of the operating system usually requires you to reinstall all

of the applications on your system.

• A non-recoverable failure of the RAID group containing the operating

system will require reinstallation of the operating system and all

applications

• A non-recoverable failure of the RAID group containing one or more DPM

replicas requires restoration of the replicas on that RAID group from tape,

or a secondary DPM server.
