Installing a Microprocessor
1. Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from its electrical outlet.
2. Open the system covers. See "Opening the System Covers" in "Troubleshooting Your System."
3. Unpack the new microprocessor.
If any of the pins on the microprocessor appear bent, see "Getting Help."
4. Identify the pin-1 corner of the microprocessor, indicated by a tiny gold triangle on the top of the microprocessor. See Figure6-8.

5. Align the pin-1 corner of the microprocessor with the pin-1 corner of the microprocessor socket, which is also identified by a small triangle. See Figure6-
9.
